Agreeing to these terms
These terms cover your use of the Complete San Carlos Concrete website and any work you hire us to do. When you browse the site, call us, send the contact form or accept an estimate, you're agreeing to them.
If a signed estimate or written agreement for your job says something different from this page, the written agreement wins for that job. If you don't agree with these terms, please don't use the site or book work with us.
What we do
We're a concrete contractor in San Carlos, CA, and we build and repair flatwork, which covers driveways, patios, sidewalks and similar slabs. We also handle steps, retaining walls, footings, foundations and related concrete work. You can read more about our crew on the about us page and see our full list of services from the home page.
The service pages describe how we usually approach a job. Your job's scope is what's written in your estimate or agreement, because every site is different once we see the ground, the drainage and the old slab.
Estimates and pricing
Our estimates are free and come with no obligation. We base them on what we can see on site, including the size of the area, how much old concrete has to come out, the condition of the subgrade, which is the soil and base the slab sits on, access for equipment and the finish you choose.
An estimate isn't a fixed price for anything we can't see until the job is open. If we dig out and find soft soil, buried debris, old footings or roots that need more work, we'll stop, show you, and get your OK before doing extra work that changes the price.
Nothing on this website is a price quote. Any figures you see elsewhere on the site are general information, and your own price is the one in your written estimate.
Scheduling, weather and cancellation
We'll give you a planned start date and a rough timeline, but concrete depends on the weather. We won't pour in rain or in conditions that would weaken the slab, so we may move a date to protect the work, and we'll tell you as soon as we know.
Curing is the wait after the pour while the concrete hardens and gains strength, and it's part of the job. We'll tell you when it's safe to walk on the new slab and when it's safe to drive on it, and keeping people, pets and vehicles off it until then is on you.
If you need to cancel or reschedule, please call us at (650) 866-1977 as early as you can. If we've already ordered materials, arranged equipment or started work, you may owe for those costs, and your estimate or agreement will say how that's handled.
Payment
Your estimate or agreement sets out what's due, including any deposit and when the balance is due. Payment is due on the dates written there unless we've agreed otherwise in writing.
If a payment is late, we may pause work until it's settled. California law gives contractors certain rights to secure payment for work on a property, and we may use those rights if a balance goes unpaid.
Workmanship and what isn't covered
We stand behind our work and want you satisfied with it. If something about the job isn't right, tell us and we'll come look at it.
Concrete can crack, and no contractor can honestly promise a slab that never will. We cut control joints, which are planned grooves that give the concrete a place to crack where it won't show or spread, and hairline cracks along or near them are normal and not a defect.
We aren't responsible for problems caused by things outside our work, such as using the slab before it has cured, heavy vehicles or equipment beyond what the slab was built for, de-icing salts or harsh chemicals, changes in drainage or grading after we leave, tree roots, earthquakes, flooding or soil movement on the property. Color and texture can vary from samples and from one pour to the next, because concrete is a natural material.
Apart from anything we promise in writing for your job, the website and our services are provided as they are, without other warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows.
Limits on our liability
To the extent California law allows, our total liability for any claim about a job is limited to the amount you paid us for that job. We aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost use of a driveway or patio during the job, or damage to items left in the work area after we've asked for it to be cleared.
Before we start, please tell us about anything buried that isn't marked, such as private sprinkler lines, low-voltage wiring or septic parts. We take care around what we're told about and what we can see, but we can't be responsible for unmarked private lines we had no way of knowing were there.
The website is for general information. We aren't liable for decisions made only on what you read here without talking to us about your property.
If we disagree
If you're unhappy with anything, call us first or reach us through the contact page. Most problems get sorted out quickly once we're both standing in front of the slab.
If we can't settle it between us, we both agree to try mediation in good faith before going to court. Nothing here stops either of us from using small claims court for a claim that qualifies.
Governing law
These terms and any work we do are governed by the laws of the State of California. Any court case about them will be heard in the state courts serving San Mateo County, unless the law requires otherwise.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time, and the version on this page is the one in effect. Changes don't affect a job already covered by a signed estimate or agreement unless we both agree in writing.
Questions
If anything here is unclear, call Complete San Carlos Concrete at (650) 866-1977 or send us a note through the contact page, and we'll explain it in plain terms.
